Kids Camp

The Harrisburg Camera Club (spearheaded by Charlie Smith) in conjunction with the Harrisburg Department of Parks and Recreation conducted a week long Photography for Kids Camp from July 21-25. Each camper was supplied a camera and tripod from Canon and was given classroom instruction in addition to field work and a free lunch (who says there is no such thing?). Through the week there were several field trips including a trip to Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. I was there because I volunteered as one of the photography mentors and spent the week educating (and coralling) the campers. This was really a great program and Charlie Smith deserves tremendous accolades for what he was able to accomplish.

This is a picture of Rob Dixon of ABC 27 interviewing one of the campers at Lake Tobias. He also tortured me in a similar fashion eating up another 30 seconds of my 15 minutes of fame.

At the end of the week Gary Dwight Miller, senior photographer for the Patriot News, helped the photograhers select their best images to be printed to and 11"X14" print and framed for display in the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King City Government Center for Gallery Walk. In addition the campers each got a second 11"X14" matted print to take home with them. Did I mention that the campers really got a lot out of the camp?

Ebenezer Samuel

Ebenezer Samuel is the founder and president of Serve India Ministries. I worked with him in creating some portraits that he could use in collateral for promoting his ministry. He is a very charismastic man and was enjoyable to photograph. I had heard him speak earlier in the week and was nothing short of inspirational. If you have the opportunity to hear him sometime, do take adavantage of it.

Indian Summer Jars

I was scheduled to meet with Sarah Beth and "the real" Sarah King of Indian Summer Jars as they finished one gig and were headed to Gettysburg for another. We had some ideas for some outside shots, but the rain forced us indoors. The girls were very nice and Sarah King tried to keep us laughing. They hung out and just played music for some of their shots. I really love it when music is truly organic and it was a real pleasure to listen to as I shot them.

Eagle Hotel

The Eagle Hotel has been on the square of Linglestown for decades making it an East Shore landmark. It is known for quality food in a relaxed atmosphere at reasonable prices. Looking at these crab cakes as I'm writing this is making my mouth water.

Adam Szar - Employee of the Month

I shot Adam Szar at his work at Level 2 for the Employee of the month feature in Fly Magazine. As you can see, we pumped out 4 different setups. The last on the page being my favorite, but the first was chosen for the magazine.

The Tear Jar

Nathan Kruis was selected to be part of the Tear Jar. Nathan is most notably known as the bassist for the Quagmire Swim Team. Because Nate was a late addition the challenge with this shot was getting a photo that matched the same style utilized by the photograher who shot the other members of the project. In addition, I did it in a small room at his house (which made it difficult to get some separation between him and the background). In the end though, i was pretty happy with the result. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the Tear Jar. I hope it gets some new life so I get another chance.
